Review Day: Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2

If you loved the first one as much as I did, then you should definitely pick up the sequel! I've played roughly 50 hours since it's release (which it was pre-ordered via Steam) which was September 18th, and can't get enough! If you are new to the series, the game is based in the fictional land of Pandora, where you are an adventurer, called a Vault Hunter. You are looking for, you guessed it, a Vault. The first Borderlands kind of bombed the whole loot in the Vault thing and instead (SPOILER ALERT!) gave us a giant tentacle monster and a big 'GAME OVER' in our face. To which the fans replied. "Fuck you" and moved on.
Basically what the ending felt like... Problem?

      But on to Borderlands 2!!

When I first jumped into Borderlands 2 I generally have no issue watching the opening scene, hey new game! Well, I'm the type of player that jumps on one class or character and then after getting like the Meta move or getting a feel for the class, I like to start a new one before I get to ahead to decide who I want to play. Well, the issue lays in the that you can't skip through the cut scene (Or I couldn't) until the 4th character was made, using escape. I try button and mouse smashing to it's fullest to no avail. Little issue, no biggie.
Continuing the whole... game... thing...running around, seeing ClapTrap again, the boxes full of money and ammo, was just a great "It's good to be back" feeling. The same controls, enhancements where they needed to be, menus are more streamlined but still the same base.
The actual game-play is pretty fantastic. There are some times I feel like I'm clipping through mobs and my grenade blasts and bullets just ignore them completely. Not to mention it's terribly annoying when trying to melee loot piles. I haven't had an issue with the meta powers of each class. Yes, I've played them all. Maya, the Siren is my favorite whereas Mister Geeker would rather play Zero, the assassin. Salvador, the Gunzerker, is meh. I can do without it. I don't like it as a meta power. And I believe the Commando's name is Axton. His turret is fine, it's a turret. I get one in nearly every game, or a companion.

Overall, I'd give the game [Scaling a 1-10] No. You know what? I'm doing my own rating system. Yeah that's right I went there.
Scaling 1 - 5
Boom! Diamonds...

And I give Borderlands 2 a solid 5!
So go, pick up the game.
If you get it on Steam, I will totally go and destroy Pandora with you.
