Simply Sunday

Super. Effing. Crazy times.

So I've been slightly putting off the blog for 2 reasons.

A.) Mister Geeker is working 60 hour weeks and wants the computer on the Weekends, so chances are I won't be posting. Which is fine! I'd want the computer too if I was working for 60 hours a week. On a side note it might be turning into 84 hours a week.. le sigh. I wish he was home more :(

B.) I'm STILL trying to get these Halloween Decorations completed. So far I have 3 tombstones, some bats (can't remember how many) and a creepy tree with a noose on it. I'm thinking of painting them (Yeah I know  I should have them painted, but w/e it's a pain LOL) with some geekery on them instead of going super creepy..

Well, on another note, I'm making a Creeper head! I'm painting it by hand, and OMG IT SSUUUCCCKKKSSS so bad. It's a pain in the ass. Really.. Well I'll be trying to upload some pictures as soon as I find some awesome lighting and this Creeper doesn't look like ass. :D

*Actual Update*

Be afraid, be very afraid.
Since I abandoned the Halloween decorations for a week... or two. I thought, well, I definitely need something else now!

StumbleUpon had answered my call. As I was just looking through spamming that stumble button over and over, I came across a seriously cool art project. This person, I assume woman let's say Pat works both ways, was reusing old Nintendo Controllers. I'm talking A B and directional pad iconic controllers. What Pat had done was taken the cord and made an iconic video game character out of them. Such as a Goomba, Link, Mario and so forth.

I have an old original XBOX controller, I thought. I could do that, I thought.

Well it was a big pain in the ass.
For 1 thing, Master Chief is a total drag to draw. He is totally symmetrical which made half of it super accurate and the other half like a monkey threw it's shit on my paper.

But I recovered! After wasting *super expensive* sheet of glossy picture paper [Epson 13x19] it's a card stock almost I drew his awesome amazing helmet.

Tada! I was like, oh look out we got a badass over here! Got over myself and continued forth! I heated up my, ahem, Borrowed hot glue gun and started to lay out the cord of ye olde controller cord. I knew I didn't have NEARLY enough to trace the whole thing out, details and whatnot, so what to do, what to do...

This is what I did. =D

Ugh. Need. Better. Camera.

Yep! I sat there, staring at a black and white Master Chief. Say whhaaat?? I also had the problem of some seriously ugly Hot glue gun blobs, which I tried to fix up by running the metal tip over them. So I thought that some black glitter glue that might cover it up! I'd follow the cord around and had this caulking type plan in my head.

...it didn't work. I regret it going on the paper almost instantly. But I'll be damned if I trash this after bending, burning and planning that damn cord. So I go with it and grab my trusty paint brush. I feel it's important to mention I've outlined the details that the cord didn't go over with black marker, washable to be exact. So I'm adding this glue around all of M.C and BAM the marker friggin bleeds everywhere. I'm just shattered,  about to give up when the maker bleeding color is this off green color.

Madam Geeker 1, Craft Project 0

JOKES ON YOU PROJECT! M.C IS GREEN!!! I was thrilled, I took this as an opportunity and just went nuts. I moved the glue stuff around until it was more of a low light, shadows or something and the green tinted enough to make M.C look real gritty.

Light bulb appeared. +1 to awesome. I have this handy dandy bottle of bleach cleaner and was thought, this oughtta be cool and bam! hit it with a touch of the stuff to kind of moving the marker shit around and glue and everything. (Lots of ands, sorry!) Satisfied on the actual piece now... finally, I reach a new problem, how the eff am I going to hang this?

Box lid + hot glue = Cheap picture hanging. Not only did it have the strength to hold the controller on the paper, it looks awesome popped out of the wall a little bit. I had a suction-cup hanger and just removed the hook from that, stuck it on the box and nailed it to the wall! All of a sudden I have a freaking AWESOME work of Halo art.

I now feel awesome watching X-Play.

Finished piece!

Super excited how this turned out and glad it's over too! Hope this inspired you to create something just awesomely geeky today :)

Stay Awesome. Ghost Hunt.

I'm. So. Sorry :(

I didn't want to abandon you! Just have been uber busy. Where to begin? Well it's frickin Tuesday. I've totally put this off.

Well, I started making Halloween Decorations like you know and well threw it all away. I was mad. I didn't have any spray paint or a large enough quantity of black paint and raged it right into the trash can.

So! Redo! I plan on making this kick-ass center piece I found on instructables. It's just amazing! Dollar store for the win!

Sorry this post is so short. I have no desire to do this right now but I thought after like 3 days of no posting, you deserved an explanation! I just want to DIY the day away. So, not meaning that I want to ignore this or anything, just preoccupied! :) It's a good thing. (Says Martha Stewart)

Week 2: Shoppin' Saturday

Window Shopping like a Baws

Since it's nearly Halloween [yes, in 24 I knowwwww] It's going to a, you guessed it, Halloween post! Huzzah!

To begin...

 Retractable Fucking Vampire Fangs.
Hell. Yes.

The effect is pretty sweet too actually, and not only do they retract, but they are custom molded to your teeth. I actually bought a regular pair of these a while back for just regular fun and they are very easy to mold. And actually really comfy! Certainly not recommended to eat with.. or probably bite people with.
Here is a snazzy video to show the effect.

He is kind of weird to look at.. and this just makes me think about True Blood [HUGE FAN minus the last season...] But very cool. You can buy them here for a measly 30 bucks!

Now then...

I spent some time trying to figure out what next.. you know what? I'm just going to guide you like a fearless leader should!
FirstThe Pyramid Collection. A great site filled with some, ah, risque outfits, awesome home decor and the ability to request a catalog! I get this in the mail all the time and love it. Definately a great place to find something to match with those awesome fangs up yonder!

Second! Just breezing right along aren't we? This one for the the girls. Need an inspiring idea for some nails? Yes like fingernails. Check this blog out! El linko to el bloggo. It's a pretty great and pretty friggin informative! I found some super awesome Eye Of Mordor ones I'm going to be doing come the end of the month. OH bother, here is a picture!
This is bitttchhiiinnn

Alrighty! Well then I think that is a pretty awesome few ideas to get you started on your Halloween love!

Project Halloween

Awwwwhhh Yeah!

The BEST time of year. Halloween. I'ma try and do it up!

I'm going to try and make the super expensive decorations this year... I know some will be total failures, but I'm prepared for that! My first uh, idea? Is going to be a wreath! AH! I know boring, but it won't be! (Very excited and what not today... but I'm sooooooo tired.) My plan is to use old black clothes, a wire hanger and then try and McGyver together some Storm Trooper-ish skulls and group them together. Make a spooky Star Wars Halloween wreath! =D Oh yeah! Probably won't be as much updating and writing about it until something solid happens. I will however be doing some updates on Halloween, like Costumes, cool decorating ideas, recipes (damn skippy) and other awesome amazing extra special things =D Come love on the Holiday with me!

Be Awesome.

Review Day: Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2

If you loved the first one as much as I did, then you should definitely pick up the sequel! I've played roughly 50 hours since it's release (which it was pre-ordered via Steam) which was September 18th, and can't get enough! If you are new to the series, the game is based in the fictional land of Pandora, where you are an adventurer, called a Vault Hunter. You are looking for, you guessed it, a Vault. The first Borderlands kind of bombed the whole loot in the Vault thing and instead (SPOILER ALERT!) gave us a giant tentacle monster and a big 'GAME OVER' in our face. To which the fans replied. "Fuck you" and moved on.
Basically what the ending felt like... Problem?

      But on to Borderlands 2!!

When I first jumped into Borderlands 2 I generally have no issue watching the opening scene, hey new game! Well, I'm the type of player that jumps on one class or character and then after getting like the Meta move or getting a feel for the class, I like to start a new one before I get to ahead to decide who I want to play. Well, the issue lays in the that you can't skip through the cut scene (Or I couldn't) until the 4th character was made, using escape. I try button and mouse smashing to it's fullest to no avail. Little issue, no biggie.
Continuing the whole... game... thing...running around, seeing ClapTrap again, the boxes full of money and ammo, was just a great "It's good to be back" feeling. The same controls, enhancements where they needed to be, menus are more streamlined but still the same base.
The actual game-play is pretty fantastic. There are some times I feel like I'm clipping through mobs and my grenade blasts and bullets just ignore them completely. Not to mention it's terribly annoying when trying to melee loot piles. I haven't had an issue with the meta powers of each class. Yes, I've played them all. Maya, the Siren is my favorite whereas Mister Geeker would rather play Zero, the assassin. Salvador, the Gunzerker, is meh. I can do without it. I don't like it as a meta power. And I believe the Commando's name is Axton. His turret is fine, it's a turret. I get one in nearly every game, or a companion.

Overall, I'd give the game [Scaling a 1-10] No. You know what? I'm doing my own rating system. Yeah that's right I went there.
Scaling 1 - 5
Boom! Diamonds...

And I give Borderlands 2 a solid 5!
So go, pick up the game.
If you get it on Steam, I will totally go and destroy Pandora with you.

DIY'Days

New Project!

All about love ♥

Okay well in my craft madness I realized I was making things to enlighten my home, but nothing really for me and the Mr.

Until I saw this
And I thought, that could be just places you love to go, or want to go, or first date....lightbulb.

So what I did was first found a little frame about 7x6, it's black for what it's worth.
Then I tried to think of important place to MisterGeeker and I. Well...
There is Denver, Colorado.
I have the movie stub of our first date still sitting in my billfold. Which is Monopoly themed by the way.
So I cut out Denver in a little heart.
First Date.

There is North Platte, Nebraska.
It was a road trip so he could meet my old friends there my step-brother.
The circle was totally random.
First road  Trip.

There is Rapid City, South Dakota.
We finally managed to get our own place together, with our little Mutt-Face. When we moved in, we had a basic stocked kitchen, T.V, couch, folding table, bed, computer, dresser, lamp. Now we have everything we basically need, have decorations and pictures on the wall and after nearly a year, it finally feels like Home
First Home.
Also, cut that out as a little house. sqeee!

The happiness I felt while making this was amazing. Thinking about these memories, some nearly 4 years old. (I know whhhaaatt!)
Time flies.

Anywho, I've had my fill of sappiness, TIME TO CREATE!!!
I cut out each label (and dang it didn't take pictures of the steps.) arranged them how I would like them laid out in the measurements of the frame.
I did a little vine-y filigree around the sides to kind of spruce it up a bit.
outline the words in black marker then began gluing!! Mwahahahaha!

and Voila!
Craft!

This is tre' cute and super great to make :) took about oh, an hour but that's because I wanted some cute font and could not decide for the life of me. I know this is like uber girly, but when MisterGeeker saw it...
We hugged.
It was great.

Winning.

Okay! MadamGeeker, signing off!

My Exact Thoughts On Starting This Blog

Well, I guess I just jumped right in didn't I?

My goal is to post pictures of project ideas, awesome pictures I may stumble upon, game reviews, (That's right, and there is going to be a schedule!) books, movies... basically anything I find awesome and worth sharing with you!

But what about your amazing writer blogger extraordinaire?
I have an amazing fiance who, may not completely understand my obsession with crafts, totally enjoys the geek side of me. Which makes for a pretty harmonious arrangement. We also have like the best mutt faced dog ever.

Le Daisy ♥

We live in South Dakota (GASP!) and enjoy it very much! Gaming, working, cooking (did I mention I'll TOTALLY post recipes? Because I will...) Just an ecceltic amount of things here with the general topic of geekery! Well, I think that is a fairly good introduction to moi! ♥

See you around!

In The Beginning.....

I begin a thought that hey, I love my geekness.. let's exploit it! :D

So here I will be listing my personal favorite amazing projects and things I will start attempting!

And I start with a simple stencil template design... of course Star Wars first!

A little rough around the edges, but I cleaned those up! I have this little red tin that had been sadly just sitting around my house, but it had some silly permanent marker writings on it, so I figured HEY! I can clean that up!

And voila! Some masking tape and glitter mixed with this fantastic metal shimmer paint I came across at Hobby Lobby and some mod-podge (well it's basically Mod-Podge, if you can afford, that's what I would recommend!) EZ-PZ. And fabulous!

I love it. really, I do... but you can still see that drating marker! So! I took some paint mixed with mod-podge since I don't have any primer and this is metal, just won't cover properly.

Annndddd....

~Close up~

It's hard to see on the camera (I don't own a digital camera, something I will def invest in!) It's just our little phones, but I like the copper tones it adds. I want to take this is a steampunked direction. Add some wiring and gears to really make it pop. But I really enjoyed doing this project :) Hope to do TONS more like it!

See ya soon!
